Guide for New Transfer Students
by Academic Advising and Career Education
1. It is recommended that you focus on your major courses for your first 1-2 quarters at
CSUEB. Seek advising from your major department to review your major requirements.
2. It is not critical for you to immediately receive either GE advising or your official
evaluation of your non-major graduation requirements prior to your first quarter.
Every CSUEB student needs to complete 3 courses in Upper Division General Education:
 If you began your education Fall 2004 or later and did not take break, visit
http://www.csueastbay.edu/ge/transfer.htm and click on “2004 or later.”
 You must have Junior standing (90+ quarter/60+ semester transferable units) or
higher to take your Upper Division GE courses.
 Complete 1 course from each of the Areas B6, C4, D4—these courses can only be
completed at a CSU campus—sometime prior to graduation.
 The GE web pages are updated each quarter and bolded courses are the most
current. You may not take a GE course that has your major prefix (ie. Psychology
majors cannot take PSYC courses to meet B6).
Graduation Requirements you may or may not have met prior to transferring to CSUEB:
American Institutions/Code – 2 courses to cover US History, US Government, and CA
state/local government: http://www.csueastbay.edu/ge/gerequirements/americancode.htm
Cultural Groups and/or Women in the US (CGW) – 1 class that addresses cultural and/or
women’s group(s) and their contribution in the US:
