SPANISH III Pre AP – SPN 5332 NATIVOS6
The Spanish III Pre-AP is a rigorous course that follows part of the College Board Spanish program
and the Realidades textbook. The course is a content-based approach to language learning through
extensive practice of reading and writing. The emphasis will be to expand further the student’s oral
proficiency and to continue the development of skills in reading and writing through the use of
contemporary literature. Students who successfully complete the course will have credit for Spanish
I, II, and III and may continue to improve their command of the language in Spanish IV Pre - AP or
Spanish AP Language and Culture.

50% FORMAL ASSESSMENT :
Tests / Projects - 30 %
Quizzes /Essays/Oral presentations - 20%
(Minimum 6 grades)

INFORMAL ASSESSMENT:
Homework /Class Assignments/ Listening / Reading/ Using the targeted language
(Minimum of 12 grades)
Make-up Work:
Make-up work is your responsibility. Immediately following an absence, you will need to find out
what needs to be made up either by contacting a classmate or speaking to me at an opportune
time. Be aware that class time is not the time to do this.
Tutoring
I want you to succeed, so please see me if you need extra help or tutoring. Tutoring is available
Tuesday and Thursday in the morning, from 8:15 – 8:40, and after school by appointment.
Friday (“FRYE”-day) before and after school is reserved for corrections and re-takes of tests
and quizzes.
Grade Reporting: PLEASE CHECK THE PARENT PORTAL FOR UPDATED INFORMATION
At the end-of-each semester students will be required to take a proficiency assessment which
is intended to provide students, teachers, and parents with information regarding proficient
attainment of district standards related to Spanish for native/heritage speakers through skills
in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as cultural awareness in the target language.
There will be a final exam that will cover the material for the semester.
