UNIT CIRCLE PROJECT Your job is to create a Unit Circle. The academic goal is to help you work with degree and radian conversion as well as to become comfortable locating various angles around the circle. It will also give you a lot of exposure to the 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles as you work to find the x-y coordinates of each key point around the circle. While visual appeal is important and will be a portion of your grade, the substance of your evaluation will be based on the accuracy of information. This includes the accuracy of angle building, using straight lines and precise circles, and providing correct information. You must also include a paragraph(s) about your project. It must explain, to an audience of your peers, how you can calculate the degrees and radians around the Unit Circle. Please go beyond simply stating the conversion factors. You must also include how you are able to get the x-y (cos-sin) coordinates for each of the locations around the circle. Remember, your audience is just learning this concept and they do not have calculators! Your paragraph(s) must be well written and typed – proper punctuation, grammar, spelling, and sentence structure is expected. Please write no more than 500 words. Your project will be due Friday February 15th, 2013 (regardless of your attendance that day). If it is turned in the Monday after break it will earn no more than 50% credit. Each subsequent day after that will reduce your grade by an additional 10%. Grading 5 points – Structure is accurate. Including but not limited to: circle formation, angle creation, and all geometric shapes 2 points – All degrees are included and accurate 3 points – All radians are included and accurate 10 points – All x-y coordinates are included and accurate 5 points – Visual Appeal: Structure is appealing to the eye and it appears as though time and effort were put forth in creating the project 10 points – Explanatory paragraph(s). These 10 points are reserved for the accuracy of the information presented in your paragraph(s) and its ability to convey the concepts clearly and consistently 5 points – Explanatory paragraph(s). These 5 points are reserved for the mechanics/structure of the written portion. Please include name, date, hour, and teacher in the top left corner Total = 40 points
