SCHEDULING PHILOSOPHY
MIDWAY HIGH SCHOOL





Courses are selected during fall and spring of the prior year. Students meet with
counselors in academic conferences to ensure proper academic placement. Information
regarding course selection is then available for parent review in Career Cruising.
There will be a course verification time for students/parents to review course requests
(through Home Access Center) and make any necessary changes to the course requests.
Timelines for the verification process will be enforced.
Teachers/staff are hired, and the master schedule is set, including class sizes, according
to student selections. Staffing needs are dependent upon the integrity of the course
selection process.
Courses listed in the course catalog are subject to student selection patterns and
staffing availability and though offered, may not actually become a part of the schedule.
Students MUST follow their printed schedules, or they will have unexcused absences for
the classes missed.
Course Verification: Thursday, March 26, 2015, 9:00am through Monday, April 6, 2015,
9:00am

first 5 days of semester two. For students moving into PreAP/AP after the first day of
class, any missed work must be made up according to the guidelines of the PreAP/AP
teacher. Additionally, the grade from the dropped class will transfer to the new class.
 For PreAP/AP classes with no comparable, regular level course, changes will only be
made within the first 15 days of school or at the end of semester one. Examples of
PreAP/AP classes with no comparable, regular course are: any level 3, 4, or 5 foreign

requested by the student. However, placement of release periods is subject to the
