Cardinal numbers: 1, 2, 3,4,5,6,7,8,9
Ordinal numbers: 1st 2nd (second), 3rd (third), 4th (fourth), 67th (sixty-seventh)
Even numbers: the ones that can be divided by 2, such as 2, 4, 6,8,12
Odd numbers: the ones not divisible by 2, such as 1, 3,5,7,9
Decimal, such as 6.43 and we read six point four- three, in English we use a
full stop (.) and not a comma (.) for decimal.
Percentages, such as 25% and we read twenty – five percent.
Fractions, such as 3/8 we read as three – eighths.
The information about years is also read in a special way. We say: 1675 –
sixteen seventy five
Finally mathematical symbols are read like this:
4+5 four PLUS five, 7 x 3 seven TIMES three, 8-2 eight MINUS two, 10: 5
ten DIVIDED five.
Squared like 5^2 are the five squared, cubes like 7^3 are read seven cubed,
and the symbol for the square root is read, for instance,√4 the square root of
four.
