Friday Wednesday/Thursday Tuesday Monday Week of: 1-27-14 TLW: Take quiz over “Hop Frog,” receive directions for the biography project, present IRA book for participation TLW: Review the questions and answer choices from Practice set 2 and will record what types of questions were missed TLW: Take a vocabulary quiz. Review the three topics in their synthesis binder and choose the topic over which they will write a synthesis essay. Student will be given the basics of the elements required for the synthesis essay. TLW: Take a short quiz over “The Stolen White Elephant” by Mark Twain and discuss Twain’s writing style for the humor genre Teacher: Hagans Subject: AP Lang and Comp Objective: Demonstrate mastery of recall and application of detail Activities: Students will take a 25 item reading comprehension quiz over Poe’s “Hop Frog.” Instructions will be given for the essay to be written over the Independent Reading Assignment – a president’s biography or autobiography. Students will present their chosen book for a participation grade. Materials: Quiz, Scantrons, pencils, erasers, handout Follow Up/HW: Read “The Stolen White Elephant” on Edmodo, flocab quiz on block days, bring synthesis binder to class Objective: Make critical thinking decisions in the AP mult choice format Activities: Practice set 2 questions with answer choices will be reviewed. Students will label each question with a specific question type and tally those missed by type to be retained to compare with the next practice set. Materials: Scantrons, graded, individual student set of questions and answer choices, paper and pen Follow Up/HW: : Read “The Stolen White Elephant” on Edmodo, flocab quiz on block days, bring synthesis binder to class Objective: Evaluate information to complete the synthesis essay Activities: Students will take the flocabulary quiz over “Dr. Doctor” Students will choose which of the three topics in their binders that interest them the most. This will be the topic over which they will write a practice synthesis essay. Students will write the introductory paragraph, reviewing “Becausetherefore-since” process. Materials: Students synthesis binder with three topics, paper, pen Follow Up/HW: Read “The Stolen White Elephant” on Edmodo for quiz Friday Objective: Demonstrate mastery in reading for details and analyzing literary and syntactical devices in a fiction piece. Activities: Take a quiz over Twain’s short story. Continue working on the synthesis binder essay.
