Scholarship Information Bulletin
February 3, 2012
WAGNER’S TEST CODE: 446-277
All college and scholarship information is also available on the Wagner High School website in the College and Career Section:
http://school.judsonisd.org/webpages/scarlton/. It is a good idea to go back and read through the previous bulletins to make
sure you haven’t missed an opportunity.
Please remember to bring in your college acceptance letters and scholarship offers to the
College/Career Center in room T129 so we can include you in our “Wall of Fame” on the
website and our running list for Senior Honors Night. (You may forward emails sent by
the colleges in lieu of a paper copy.)
Don’t forget to complete your FAFSA as soon as possible. You must have applied and
been accepted at a college to receive any type of financial aid package from that college
and you must meet the college’s deadline (usually around March 1 to April 1) to receive
the most assistance.
Our next FAFSA workshop will be held Monday, Feb. 20, at 6:30 p.m. here at Wagner High School.
StudentAid Saturdays are also being held every Saturday through March for one-on-one help with the
financial aid process. These are especially helpful for those students who do not have a social security
number and will need to complete the TAFSA instead of the FAFSA.
See the schedule below for the next StudentAid Saturday sites:
Feb. 4 – St. Philip’s College, Café College, Northeast Lakeview College, San Antonio College
Feb. 12 (Sunday) – Café College, Harlandale High School
Feb. 18 – St. Mary’s University, St. Philip’s College, Churchill High School, Café College
For more information, go to http://www.studentaidsa.org/.
Field Trips: Sign up in the Career Center if you would like to attend!!
Feb. 14 (Tuesday) – OLLU – mini College Fair for 10 – 12 graders (students will miss 2nd and 3rd periods)
Feb. 25 (Saturday) – Young Leader’s Conference for seniors at Northeast Lakeview College. Meet at
Wagner at 8:15 a.m. and return at 2:30 p.m.
March 3 (Saturday) – ExploreUT – trip to the University of Texas at Austin for 9 – 12 graders. Meet at
Wagner at 9 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. (Will need money for lunch.)
Open House: ITT Technical Institute (5700 Northwest Parkway, SAT 78249) will host an
High School Senior Open House on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m to 11 p.m.
(Transportation is not provided.)
Most university scholarship deadlines fall sometime in February or March. Check the
website for the colleges you are interested in to see what you need to do and when it must
be completed. Don’t wait until the deadlines. Send them early!!
