Bell ringer: View several Scientific names and determine what type of organism these words are used to name. Before: Teacher will review the answers to bell ringer. During: Students will continue to work on scientific name games After: Students will choose five scientific names and research their meaning and how to pronounce them. Bell ringer: Students will name the levels of classification in order Before: Teacher will review for test on classification. During: Students will present their Scientific names and their meanings. After: Students will complete a worksheet on taxonomy. Assessment: Presentation of Scientific names, taxonomy worksheet. Wed. Jan. 13th COS: 2-Cell Structure 2a-Development of Cell Theory Learning Target: I can identify the organelles of the cells. Bell ringer: Students will name the organelles of the cell. Before: Teacher will review the answers to bell ringer. During: students will play a dichotomous key game. After: Students will begin to draw a plant and animal cell. Assessment; Dichotomous key game. Wed. Jan. 13th COS: 2-Cell Structure 2a-Development of Cell Theory Learning Target: I can identify the function of each organelle in the cell. Bell ringer: Students will name the function of as many organelles as possible. Before: Teacher will review answers to bell ringer. During: Students will go to cells alive website to identify the function of each organelle. After: Students will complete their drawings of the cell. Assessment: Drawings of the plant and animal cell. Thursday, Jan. 14th COS: 2-Cell Structure 2a-Development of the Cell Theory Learning Target: I can identify the function of cell organelles. Bell Ringer: Students will answer questions that will be on their test this Friday. Before: teacher will review the answers to the bell ringer During: Students will begin cell city project. After: Students will complete cell city project. Assessment: Cell City Project. Friday, Jan. 15th COS: 2-Cell Structure 2a-Development of Cell Theory Learning Target: I can score at least 85% on today’s test. Bell ringer: Students will prepare their papers for their test.
