Deciphering the prompt:
Many works of literature address the conflict
which arises when an individual must decide
between following the dictates of his or her
society and following the contradictory dictates
of his or her own conscience. Discuss this
conflict as it is addressed in The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, and explain how the
presentation of this conflict and resolution
helps to develop one or more themes in the
novel.

