Science: We will finish up our Water Cycle which is the last part of
Heat Transfer this week. The children are working on an in-class project.
Grades for the Heat Transfer Science Quiz are posted on parent portal.
Be sure to check your child’s grades. Review help can also be found on
my website under “Vocabulary” in the Science link. We did quite good
on the quiz overall!!
Our next unit will be Matter. We should be spending a few weeks on it.
We will learn about physical and chemical change. He children will be
conducting a few experiments with household items later in the week.
We are still in need of Plaster of Paris and Iodine should you wish to
donate 
Cooking at home and engaging with your child is a wonderful way to
explain chemical change changes the physical appearance. Eggs and
popcorn being popped in the microwave are two fantastic visuals to try.
We will also learn about qualitative and quantitative data. These terms
are easily confused. Again, home review of how things look (quality),
versus how many of an item there are (quantity) can be a wonderful
sharing conversation.
For Reading: We will finish our EOQ review this week. Your child
received their score in private and reflected on their goal and set a new
goal for 3rd quarter.
We will continue with our novel, Tales of Despereaux and focus on
context clues and supporting details. Grammar will be
synonyms/antonyms and verb tense (past, present and future).
Writing: Students will be receiving reading passage that requires a
writing prompt to support the main idea and summarizing. This will be
done in centers.
The PBIS (Positive Behavior System) Document our school recognizes gives a student no more than 3 opportunities a
week to make a good choice before the documented behavior is sent home for signature. Should your child come
home with a disciplinary form please know it was written AFTER we have talked repeatedly to your child about the
choices he/she is making, tried positive strategies in class, and have reflected. The form should be signed by a
parent/guardian and one copy returned to me. I would hope that should this occur, it would only be one time.
Should your child have three or more disciplinary forms in a week, he/she will be sent to the office to speak to the
principal and a phone call from there will be made to you. A decision to visit with ISS (In School Suspension) will also
be discussed. Thank you for helping support our school in creating a positive learning environment for all.
