3 sheets open in a workbook, but you can open as many as you want as long as you have the
memory for it.

Columns are labeled with letters and rows are labeled with numbers
4. How does the mouse pointer display when it is located in an active cell?
It turns into a white bolded cross
5. How do you enter data or text into the contents of a cell?
Type the text into the formula bar and it will be typed into the cell as well, as well as vice
versa

Hit the cancel box and it will remove the text from the formula bar

considered text and are treated accordingly.

Text is left justified, numbers are right justified
15. What happens when text is longer than the width of the cell?
When the text overflows in the active cell, Excel displays it in the adjacent cell as long as
that cell has no data in it
16. How do you center across columns?
The center buttons centers text across columns

It will merge the selected cells into one large cell and centers the text

 Activate the cell
 Click the Cell Styles button
 Select the style that you want the active cell to take

Change them, select the default format

It is a predetermined formula in Excel. Begins with an equal sign followed by the function’s
name and its arguments
31. What is the order of operations?
N: Negatives
P: Percent
E: Exponents
M: Multiplication
D: Division
A: Addition
S: Subtraction
32. What sign indicates a formula will follow?
An = sign
33. What formula would you write in A8 to subtract F3 from D2?
=SUM (D2-F3)

Why?
You should use cell references because it will make your chart a lot easier to change and
maintain.

You can drag the fill handle through the cells you want in the series
53. Is moving cells the same as copying cells?
Why/why not?
No, but they can both be done by using drag and drop. Copying a cell would be copying the
cell content of one to another. Moving is moving the cell to another location.
54. If you were to insert a column, would Excel adjust the cell references to the new locations?
Yes, Excel adjusts the cell references to the new locations
55. What is the purpose of freezing worksheet panes?
This way Excel displays the titles on the screen, no matter how far down or to the right you
scroll.

It is absolute for the column formula

You can format a cell quickly by copying a cell’s format to another cell or range of cells.

separated.
