►
NO 10 SECOND STARTUP DELAY
►
Paragraph 7.9.1.3 of the Life Safety Code states
that when changing to emergency power:
“…a delay of not more than 10 seconds shall be
permitted.”
If a generator is not able to supply full power in
less than 10 seconds, an auxiliary power source
must be provided.
►
To avoid leaving people in darkness for up to 10
seconds, other lighting backup may be needed.
Typical unit equipment is unsightly, difficult to
maintain, and inverters are expensive.
►
The CES will deliver emergency power to an
entire building immediately following power
failure

►
FULL BACKUP FOR EMERGENCY LIGHTING IF A GENERATOR
FAILS
►
When the generator is running, the
system draws a small charge from the
generator and CES batteries remain
fully charged.
Emergency lights operate in STANDBY
MODE , providing constant 1Fc along
the path of egress.
►
Should the generator fail at any time,
the CES is always ready to supply 90
minutes of emergency lighting power
throughout the building.

►
NO AUTOMATIC LOAD CONTROL RELAYS (ALCR)
REQUIRED FOR NORMAL LIGHTING
►
ALCR’s are required to allow emergency
fixtures to be turned OFF when not
required for normal lighting. If ALCR is not
installed, fixtures will operate at constant
full power 24/7.
►
ALCR’s also require an additional
unswitched AC circuit to each fixture to
sense utility power loss, as well as the
emergency input circuit and the switched
AC circuit.
►
With the CES, general lighting can be
installed with a single switchable circuit,
with lighting controls as required.

►
STORAGE BATTERIES ARE EASILY MAINTAINED
►
CES batteries are easy to
access and can be
maintained at a fraction of
the cost of any other battery
storage system, such as unit
equipment or inverters.
►
Every CES panel is supplied
with automatic self-testing
diagnostics so the status of
batteries is constantly
updated and readily
available to the user.

MOONLITE LED™ FIXTURES ARE OPTIMIZED FOR
EMERGENCY LIGHTING
►
►
General lighting fixtures are
designed for ambient lighting with
circular or wide oval lighting
patterns that are not optimized for
illuminating along the path of
egress. MOONLITE LED fixtures have
elongated lighting patterns, and
operate at much less power,
requiring less total fixtures and
lower emergency power required.
Lamp maintenance of general
lighting fixtures is less critical when
these fixtures are not required for
emergency lighting.

Local Branch Circuit Monitoring
• The LCM can monitor the status of up to eight (8) branch circuits.
• If any monitored circuit breaker is opened, a signal will be sent to a CBS or
CES panel to activate emergency lighting.
• Enables compliance with NFPA Life Safety Code 101 (2009), Para 7.9.2.3.
