Several Great Opportunities to
Earn Scholarship Funds for CADD
Students!
Choose ONE of the Architectural or Mechanical or Civil topics
below to submit.
Civil - Balsa Wood Bridge
After completing some basic research on bridges you
must now select and design your own bridge. The
purpose of the bridge is to span a distance with as
little material as possible yet support the greatest
amount of weight.
 Your project must include a scaled multi-view
drawing created utilizing an Autodesk
software as well as a scaled model of the
bridge.
 Your bridge must span between two tables
with a ½” support on each table. The total
span of the bridge is to be 14”. All other
dimensions may vary according to your
design.
 The only materials the students may use for
the bridge itself are 20 pieces of Balsa Wood.
 The balsa wood may be shortened, bent or
cut.
 No part of the bridge can touch anything
between the two ends of the span except for
the ½” on both ends.
Each bridge will be graded on the total amount of
weight that the bridge can support. Winner: less
material = most weight!! Materials: Balsa wood and
glue – only!!
Civil - Golf Course
Create and design your own Miniature/Putt-Putt Golf
Course utilizing an Autodesk software. Drawings
need to be scaled, detailed and plotted to scale.
 Multi-view drawings

 Landscaping, labeling, and scale required.
 Include creative features such as but not
limited to Windmills, Water and Sand
features.
 Selecting a Theme for your Putt-Putt Golf
