The World is a wonderful place. If I had the time and money,
I'd like to just visit very where. People, places and things, WOW, it
would be really exciting. However, not being able to go everywhere,
I've limited my list to my top 20 places in the World that I'd really
want to go and visit.
The plane will travel about 500 miles an hour on its way to Japan. To

Japan is the subject of more gullible
and misguided musings than perhaps
any other place in the world: the best
way to approach it is to discard your

over a few drinks, between the sanitised
shopping malls and the unexpected rural
festivals, everyone finds their own vision

Japan's earliest settlers were fishers,

The last century, the main influences on Japanese art
came from China and Korea, but a distinct Japanese aesthetic
was present from early on. There is a fascination with the
ephemeral, the art of flower arrangement), with the
unadorned, and with forms that echo the randomness of
nature. A gift for caricature is also present, from early Zen ink
paintings right up to the manga (comics) of contemporary
Japan. There is a wildness and passion and an interest in the
grotesque or the bizarre visible in many works, from Buddhist
scrolls depicting the horrors of hell to the highly stylised
renderings of body parts in the wood-block prints of the Edo
period.
Japan, lying off the eastern coast of the Asian
continent, consists of four main islands - Hokkaido,
Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu - as well as thousands of
adjacent smaller islands. The archipelago runs in an arc
from north to south, stretching 3,800 km. Its total land
area is 377,818 sq km, which is about 4% of that of the
United States and slightly more than one and a half times
as large as that of Britain. Japan occupies about 0.3% of
the earth's total land area.
Mountains claim 71% of Japan's land area, with plains and
basins accounting for the remaining 29%. A chain of
mountains extends along the middle of the long, narrow
archipelago, dividing it into two sides, one facing the
Pacific and the other the Sea of Japan. In general, the
rivers are short and swift-flowing.

Takayama in the northern part of
Gifu Prefecture is a castle town at the foot
of Takayama Castle built in the 16th
century. It is a town of old wooden houses
standing side by side, and its lineal
beauty, highlighted by projecting lattice
and eaves of uniform height, draws
visitors'
attention.

Most people eat rice as a important
food. Entire cuisine is
based on rice dishes. They usually
eat it with other meals
or make rice dishes like Sekihan,
Takikomi Gohan, Porridge,
Domburimono and Onigiri. Some of
the Japanese like to place

Tsukudani is a kind of preserved
food, made of kelp, shellfish,
or other ingredients boiled down in
a mixture of soy sauce,
sugar, and other flavorings.
Japan has been ruled by
emperors, since ancient
civilization. During much of
Japan's history, rival warlords
and their samurai fought with
each other.
In the 1930s and 1940s, Japan
attacked many of its
neigboring Asian countries. In
World War II, Japan sided
with Germany and was finally
defeated in 1945. Two atomic
bombs were dropped on
Japan, which helped to end the
war.
