published writings from this time are highlighted as well. The book contains aspects of
everyday culture and a vast amount of quotes from speeches, poems, and articles.
Other works used include photographs, magazines, and posters. This book is not biased
because it does not incorporate a stance or opinion on the information it discusses. The
author is a writer, literary critic, and Sterling Professor of Humanities at Yale University.

This article is from a website which was found through the data bases. It provides a very
thorough summary of the Harlem Renaissance, including many examples of occurrences
at the same, before, and after. It is very vital in providing strong insight on what it was
like to live during this time, discussing a variety of positions which different kinds of
people were in. The article is well organized, being separated into different sections,
including background, issue, and a timeline, to help the audience receive an exemplary
understanding of the event. This is not biased source because it does not include a
stance or opinion on the information it provides.

This book focuses mainly on African-Americans, who had a significant impact on the

expressed for each person. This source provides a different perspective than others due
to having more accurate details and being more direct. This source was essential in
helping me in understanding the reasons behind the importance and influence of these
people. The source is credible because it includes the sources it uses in the book and the
authors have worked together on many publications.

This article about the Harlem Renaissance is very simple and straight-forward. Despite
not being as insightful as other sources, it provides the overall idea of the movement
and what happened, emphasizing the main points. This website was very convenient
when starting to actually discover what the Harlem Renaissance was. Although the
website credits the sources it uses, it doesn’t necessarily provide credibility to the
authors, making it seem somewhat biased.

This book heavily emphasizes the history and essence of African American music. It
gives background on musicians and events that helped black musicians prosper, as well
as the introduction to new genres. This source was useful in helping me understand the
importance of music during the movement of the Harlem Renaissance and seeing how it
impacts music in general today.

This source provided not only valuable information about the occurrences of the Harlem
Renaissance, but to put you in the perspective of the events that occurred during this
time. The website was organized, making it easy to navigate through the sections. The
sections were the helpful because of the insight they provided, the explanation for
certain events, and the decisions made leading up to them. The source also goes into
detail on how the overall occurrence of the Harlem Renaissance affected AfricanAmericans and America as a whole. This source is credible because the author was
previously professor of Literary Studies and is currently a professor of American Culture
at Cornell University, who’s teachings focus on 19th and 20th century American
literature.

how the movement impacted our world today. It provides understanding to why and

contributed work in the publishing industry such as editing. This book is reissued in a
revised and updated version of one published in 1987.

does not have a certain stance or opinion on the information it provides and website is
made, as well as, used by professionals to thoroughly education individuals.
