All students will be completing a mock English or English

Language exam paper.

Additionally, sets 1 and 2 will sit 2 English Literature exams, covering An Inspector Calls, Of Mice and Men and Heroes, as well as unseen poetry.

You will sit a full exam paper

How to revise /prepare at home

For ALL sets:

They will need to remember to revise persuasive language, how to infer and deduce and how to analyse language as well as structure in non-fiction texts.

In addition- sets 1 & 2 only:

They will need to be revising character and themes for these as well as revising the necessary quotations to prove their points.

Study guides for English/Language are in the school shop.

Geography

Students will complete a mock unit 1 GCSE exam in examination conditions. The duration of the exam will be 1 hour 30 minutes. The exam covers the physical Geography units studied at GCSE which are:

The Restless Earth

They should spend 15 minutes each evening/day working through the topics.

Students should also use practice exam papers to help them prepare for the exam.

Students will be given revision guides prepared by the geography department along with practice questions taken from previous GCSE examinations.

Unit 1: Understanding Personal Development and

Relationships

1 hour exam with the following structure:

15 marks of Multiple Choice Questions across all topics

30 marks of Short Answer Questions

 26 marks of essay questions (2 x 8 marks and 1 x 10 mark essay)

Content covered:

 Part 1: Lifestages and development across the lifespan

Part 3: Family and relationships

In addition to this, there will content from Part 2 – factors affecting development to assess current knowledge of factors such as drugs, environment etc.

In class students will complete, in exam conditions, an exam question. The question will be based on a cartoon and will state, "What is the cartoonist's message? Use details from the cartoon and your own knowledge to answer the

question" The cartoon will be about the Night of the Long

Knives.

Ideas for revision will be discussed in class and period 6 revision sessions will be offered to students.

There is also the opportunity for students to purchase a CGP revision guide from school which is specific to the specification we follow.

Focus on revision and practise of command words and what the examiner is looking for:

Discuss – two sides of an argument or differing views

Evaluate – strengths and weaknesses

Explain – looking for detail and examples

Focus on literacy and sentence starters, essay structure and quality of written communication. Spelling, grammar, punctuation.

Past paper questions to be completed using the above techniques.

The students will complete a mini mock exam based on the content that they have mainly been taught in Autumn Term

2.

To prepare/revise at home: students will need to top-up their knowledge of Night of the Long

Knives using the Germany Revision Pack and their exercise books. An additional sheet, containing this content will also be provided.

In addition, students will be given a booklet containing four cartoon-based questions- students will need to use this booklet to practice answering cartoon-based questions.

Students will need to think about how to answer all four questions and should be able to give, orally- the cartoonist's main message, images from the cartoon that support this main message, own knowledge that supports this interpretation of the cartoon.

Students will prepare at home the week prior to the exam by revising the topics that they have studied in theory lessons. Their revision materials and resources are saved in their B numbers which they will need to save to their

One Drive accounts to be able to access from home.

Students should revise the following areas, why people travel, the different types of transport and tourism destinations as well as the appeal of tourism destinations
