Theme 5A Vocabulary – Classwork
For Chapter 5A, we will be learning the vocabulary in whichever way best fits our individual learning style.
Turn to pages 222-225. You will be incorporating all of the vocabulary highlighted in BLUE. The definitions
can be found on pages 244. Choose one of the following activities that you would like to complete to
demonstrate knowledge of the vocabulary by incorporating vocabulary from this chapter.
1.
Bulletin Board – You may re-design my bulletin board to reflect the new vocabulary from Chapter 5A! Be creative.
Use many colors, pictures, and vocabulary words. You must include 15 words.
2.
Comic Strip – You will come up with a story line that will incorporate the vocabulary from Chapter 5A and you will
draw it out in a comic strip. Be sure to include words/sentences as all comic strips have them! This should fit on a
sheet of printer paper and should be drawn and printed neatly. You may use the computer for this.
3.
Chart – You will define each word from pg. 244 on a sheet of notebook paper. Be sure to use neat handwriting.
Also, you will pick 15 of the words and write a sentence in Spanish with them.
4. Crossword Puzzle – You will design a crossword puzzle with 5A vocabulary by HAND. You must include clues (can
be in English) for each word. Definitions must be more than 2 words. You will need to submit a clean copy that has
not been completed, along with an answer sheet. This must include at least 18 vocabulary terms.

Family Tree – Draw your own family tree or the family tree of a famous family. You may also create your own
family and draw the family tree. This must include color and drawings and must fit on a sheet of printer paper. Be
sure to label at least 15 vocabulary words.
6. Cartoon – You will use poster-sized paper to draw a cartoon (will be obtained from World Language Work Room).
You will either (a) label 10 different parts of the cartoon, or (b) you can write an explanation using 10 vocabulary
words at the bottom. This must include color and good drawings because it will be displayed on the walls of the
classroom.

Flip book – Create a short story in a flip book with the new vocabulary. This will be the size of half a sheet of printer
paper or ¼ sheet of printer paper. Words must be neat and drawing must include color. You will need to use at
least 18 vocabulary terms.

Word art – You will draw out 10 of the vocabulary words (by HAND) to reflect the English meaning! For example,
the word luz means light. I might draw the word out in Christmas lights to convey the meaning of the vocabulary
term. These must be big enough to be seen from across the classroom, so use an entire sheet of printer paper for
each word. Also, these must include color.
9. Film – You will create a short film (can use iPhone) in the Spanish language that incorporates the new vocabulary.
This must include good acting and a good script to go along with it! The script will be turned in as well. Be sure to
include at least 18 vocabulary terms.
10. Poem – Create a poem using the Spanish language and vocabulary. You may incorporate English as well to get
your story across. Work to include at least 15 terms.
11. Rap Song – Create a rap song using the 5A vocabulary. You may use both English and Spanish to get 15 vocabulary
terms into the song.
12. Fairytale – You may write a fairy tale in the Spanish language (similar to a journal entry) with the new 5A
vocabulary. You must include 15 vocabulary terms in your story.
13. Photo Essay – Submit 18 photos with a brief description (in Spanish) underneath each. You may use a computer for
this and you may use your own pictures from your iPhone (must be uploaded to school computer).
