Jury Selection Game
 The Law-Related Education Department of the
State Bar of Texas developed a game for students
to select the jurors for a case.
 The game is located at :
http://texaslre.org/jury_game/jury_game.html
Jury Selection Game
How it works!
 The students select either a criminal or civil case.
 They also select whether they want to be the defendant of the
plaintiff.
 To select the jurors, they read the background information
about the jurors.
How it works! - Continued
 Based on the case and background information, they
select a juror that will best favor their side of the case.
 When the student is done selecting, the website will
score how they did in the selection process. Of course, a
high score would mean they would probably win the
case.

Let’s Create a Game
 Working in groups, students will create a board game
 After creating the game, students will write the instructions
for playing the game
 Students will rotate through playing the games that were
created
 As the students play, observe how the students react to each
other’s game
Let’s Create a Game-Continued
 After all groups have rotated through all the games, have the
students answer questions about the process.
 Some questions might be: Were the games fair? Were all
instructions clear? What was needed to make it more
informational?
 Leading up to how laws in society must be spelled out so
everyone knows what is expected of them and what the
consequences may be if you don’t abide by the rules.
Court System Posters

to research
 Provide a brief description about that court
system
