Information Sheet
Fall 2013
This information sheet is intended to provide basic information and rules for this
activity.
ENTRIES OPEN on August 19 and play begins on September 17.
ELIGIBILITY
Adams State University and Trinidad State Junior College students, faculty/staff, and
Adams State University faculty/staff spouses are eligible to participate.
To participate in a team sport, each player must be added to his/her online team roster
before game time.
DAYS, TIMES, AND LOCATION
Games will be played Monday and Wednesday nights between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM in
the Rex Activity Center Main Gym.
CHECK-IN
It is recommended that participants check-in with an Intramural employee at least ten
minutes prior to game time. All participants must show a valid and current Adams State
University picture ID before every game.
FORFEITS
Teams are encouraged to arrive ten minutes before game time. FORFEIT TIME IS
GAME TIME! A forfeit is given to teams with less than two legal players at game time.
Teams receiving their second forfeit may be dropped from regular season and elimination
tournament play. A $10 forfeit fee will be charged to each team that wishes to continue
play after their second forfeit.
EQUIPMENT
Non-marking shoes must be worn.
OFFICIALS
The Office of Intramural Activities will provide all officials. Officials and scorekeepers
assigned to your match have the authority to make decisions on any point not specifically
covered by rules of the game or by intramural policies.
LIABILITY
All participants are required to electronically sign the waiver upon signing up on
IM Leagues. All participants play at their own risk and must acquire their own
insurance.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
There will be a single elimination tournament following regular season play. Teams will
be ranked according to win percentage. If more than one team has the same win
percentage, head to head match ups will be considered to break the tie. Teams will be
seeded in the tournament accordingly.
RULES
Intramural 2 v 2 basketball abides by the 2013-2014 National Federation of High School
Association Rules with the following exceptions or points of emphasis:
1. Team Composition: Teams must consist of two players on the court. For the coed
league teams must consist of one male and one female player. Team rosters are limited
to three participants.
2. Beginning Play: Possession will be decided by a coin toss. The ball will be checked at
the top of the key and play will begin.
3. Game Duration: The best two of three games will be played to 21, with the third game
being played to 15.
4. Boundaries: The game will be played on a half court with the black lines as out of
bounds. The three-point line will be used as marked on the court.
5. Disputes: Any disputes on rules or situations may be taken to the Intramural staff
member on duty. Once a dispute is brought to the Intramural employee, their decision
shall be final and play must resume or a forfeit may be called.
6. Substitutions: Substitutions may take place during a dead ball. Play will resume with a
checked pass from the top of the key.
7. Timeouts: Teams may have one time-out per team game.
8. Point Values: Field goals count 2 points and made 3-point attempts count 3 points.
9. Fouls: Call your own fouls. A foul will result in a checked ball from the top of the key.
Please be sportsmanlike and honest in calling fouls. If a dispute over fouls cannot be
resolved then the point will be replayed from the top of the key.
10. Dunking: Dunking is absolutely not allowed! Any player dunking will be ejected
from the game and asked to leave the building.
