Organizational Strategic Plan for ATPAD Karley Daniel, Maria Kurlenda, Samantha Pedigo, Angela Sokolowski, and Carolyn Zielinski FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY SPRING 2014 The Organization: ATPAD Advocacy for Teens to Promote Awareness of Domestic violence (ATPAD) is an organization designed to spark awareness of domestic violence in teens and offer solutions for those who are experiencing violence in their lives. It is a non-profit organization of nurses whose mission is to decrease the prevalence of teens involved in domestic violence cases through education in Kent County. Many of these teens range from ages between 11 and 17 years of age! Alarming Statistics 9.8 percent of high school students admit to abuse in the last 12 months (Centers for Disease Control). Teen mothers experience a high risk for violence during their pregnancy and postpartum from their partners (Harrykissoon, Rickert & Wiemann, 2002). ATPAD …aims to empower students with knowledge and tools necessary to make and maintain healthy relationships. To recognize that adolescents and teens have a unique perspective regarding relationships. To collaborate with organizations to provide an effective educational program. To utilize and manage our resources in a responsible manner. Goals and Objectives 1. Ensure middle and high school students have information regarding the prevalence and effects of domestic violence through teaching public high school students about domestic violence.
