MSCJ Course Requirements
A total of 36 hours is required for the MSCJ degree in addition to successful completion of the thesis or
comprehensive exam. Students must receive a “C or better” for courses to count toward candidacy;
receiving more than 2 grades of a “C” will result in dismissal from the program.

Thesis Option:
Thesis students will only take 15 hours from the list above. Students, who plan to write a thesis must enroll
in 6 hours of CRMJ 5999r; this will count for 6 hours of the elective courses.
CRMJ 5999r: Thesis (must take 6 hours)
Note: Students may take up to 6 hours of elective credit outside of the department upon approval by the
MSCJ Graduate Coordinator.
