Job Title:
EDEN Shoreditch Team Leader
Location: Shoreditch, London E2
Hours:
Full Time – flexible working
Start date: By agreement
Salary scale:
Typically £21 – £24,000 pa* (+ London weighting approx. £3,299)
(* salary dependant on experience, qualifications, accommodation)
Responsible to:
- Rev. Georgina Stride, Minister, Shoreditch Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hackney Rd
- Coaching relationship to the Eden Regional Director for London, Daniel Haigh
Responsible for:
Team members (employed, voluntary and trainees)
Primary external working relationships:
Local agencies, organisations and other churches
Summary of main purpose of the job:
Leadership of the Eden Shoreditch team in line with its Kingdom vision and transformational objectives.
Empowering, equipping and enabling a team mainly consisting of volunteers who will, over the long term,
engage local youth and families through personal witness and programmed activities.
Specific duties and responsibilities:

















Provide leadership, supervision, management, motivation and support to the Eden team (which may
consist of 8-12 people, all living in the area)
In liaison with Eden’s network leadership, interview potential new team members
Oversee the induction of new team members including practical aspects such as making introductions,
finding housing and work etc.
Ensure adequate pastoral care is available to team members as required (which may include
developing support networks outside the immediate project context)
Host regular team meetings (giving consideration to social, spiritual and practical aspects of team life)
Oversee short-term trainee / intern placements with the project
Identify and monitor the needs of young people and families in the local area, and respond accordingly
by developing mission strategies
Oversee the practical outworking of the mission strategy through various methods of engagement e.g.
detached work, clubs, trips, events, mentoring, schools work etc.
Praying for young people and their families with whom there is contact
Be active in pursuing good relationships with other local agencies with a view to developing partnership
responses to the needs of local youth - see key Relationships below
Attend key local youth / resident task groups - see key Relationships below
Control of day to day admin and finance (including expenditure, record keeping, security and
communication)
Seek out funding sources towards the project budget inc. promoting the concept of personal support
raising amongst the team
Produce monthly Eden Team leaders report using the approved format
Ensure practical adherence to Safeguarding (Child Protection) policy and protocol including associated
Risk Management procedure
Provide support to the wider church community activities, particularly seeking links with youth activities
Set annual objectives with STBC leadership for yourself and Eden team

General responsibilities:
 Be committed to the vision and values of Shoreditch Tabernacle Baptist Church and supportive of its
mission and ministry, specifically with regard to the Shoreditch Estate
 To reside on the Shoreditch estate in order to build trusting relationships with that community, by being
able to identify with, be available to and experience firsthand the issues that affect the day to day lives
of people who live on the estate.
 Participation in the wider life of the Eden Network at Regional and National level according to the
published calendar of events (e.g. Prayer Days, Training Days, Residentials etc.)
 Build/maintain healthy relationships with other local churches
Person specification:
 A committed Christian with a personal testimony of their trust in the Lordship of Christ, the authority of
scripture and the work of the Holy Spirit. Wanting to see the Christian message communicated effectively
to young people. Able to articulate a clear vision for their role within the work of Eden.
 Have a proven track record of service in a Christian ministry sphere
 Reflect leadership qualities
 Know and be able to communicate the vision and values of the EDEN initiative
 Be in full sympathy with the aims and objectives of The PARTNER CHURCH, Shoreditch Tabernacle
Baptist Church, and be willing to enter fully into church life
 Have a known and proven capacity to be an active member of a team
 Commitment to further training
 Have a good reputation for displaying the following characteristics:
