A.
OVERVIEW OF PROJECT:
SEHATI SERUMPUN 4.0 is one of the most established humanitarian
projects in MARA COLLEGE BANTING. The programme, now in its 4thyear,
is a continuation of previous humanitarian projects organized by the
students of the college’s INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM
particularly benefiting Cambodia.
This project was initiated from a class-based project which subsequently
developed into the establishment of an organization which provides a
golden opportunity for the College students to participate in a noble and
high impact humanitarian cause. The project and activities also facilitates
the development of creativity, action and service (or CAS) as part of the
students’ personal development.
There is a distinct social status gap between those who are very poor
with those who are very rich in Cambodia including socio-geographical
lifestyle. Those who are rich or high social status typically live in the
urban areas while the poor live in the rural areas. In addition, different
currencies are being used within the country indicating instability in its
economy.
