Prescribes guidelines for the selection, segregation and processing of plastics waste/scrap. Establishes the different options for the recovery of plastics waste arising from pre-consumer and postconsumer sources. Establishes the quality requirements that should be considered in all steps of the recovery process. Lists typical suggested end-products using appropriate types of recycled/reprocessed plastics waste/scrap. CONTD… This standard also prescribes guidelines to the manufacturers of plastic products with regard to the marking to be used on the finished product in order to facilitate identification of the basic raw material. It helps in identifying whether the material used on the end product is virgin, recyclate or a blend of virgin and recyclate. These identification marking of plastics are referred in the Plastic Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2011 for compliance. Schematic Diagram of Some Plastics Recovery Options IS 14535 Recycled Plastics for Manufacturing of Products - Designation It is intended for identification and classification of the recycled plastic material on the basis of its properties and applications. It applies to recycled Plastic materials ready for normal use without any further modifications. The designation system consists of 8 blocks to classify them which uses combination of numerals and alphabets to identify them International Scenario List of International standards on recycling of plastics New Initiatives Development of New Standards on characterization of various plastic recyclates, plastics recycling traceability and assessment of conformity and recycled content. These standards will help in effective recycling of plastics. THANK YOU
