Dear Valued Supplier,
Meritor WABCO Vehicle Control Systems is currently a member in good standing of the CBP initiative: C-TPAT
(Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism). C-TPAT is a partnership between US Customs and Border
Protection and the trade community in which trade partners agree to maintain security practices designed to
reduce the threat of terrorism throughout the supply chain. It is the responsibility and the goal of Meritor
WABCO VCS to maintain a consistent level of security throughout our supply chain. As part of our continued
effort to maintain best security practices, we are reviewing the current status of our business partners as
pertains to their security practices and C-TPAT participation.
As a valued Meritor WABCO supplier, your support and adherence to the requirements of C-TPAT is critical. It
is our expectation that each of our suppliers is aware of the C-TPAT program and its requirements. In
securing their respective supply chains, Meritor WABCO recommends that each of its service providers and
suppliers follow the security criteria posted on the CBP website:
http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/commercial_enforcement/ctpat/
The security criteria includes areas such as:
1. Procedural Security – Security procedures for the movement of goods to protect against shipments
being tampered with or unmanifested material being introduced into the supply chain.
2. Physical Security – Procedures to protect buildings, implement entrance security, etc. for purposes of
preventing unlawful entry onto premises.
3. Access Controls – Procedures to prevent unauthorized access to facilities and conveyances.
4. Personnel Security – Employment screening and background checks and disciplinary measures for
personnel that breach security.
5. Education and Training Awareness – Training of employees regarding security awareness, the
maintenance of cargo integrity and reporting procedures.
6. Manifest Procedures – Procedures to ensure that manifests and supporting commercial
documentation are in order and submitted to customs in a timely manner.
7. Conveyance Security – Procedures to ensure the integrity of conveyances to protect against
unauthorized access, un-manifested materials, or tampering.
Attached to this letter is a C-TPAT Review Questionnaire. You may have filled out a similar questionnaire for
Meritor WABCO in the past. We feel it is good practice to periodically review the security practices of our
suppliers and service providers to keep our records current and identify areas of improvement or opportunity.
If you provide goods or services to Meritor WABCO, please acknowledge that you have read this letter by
filling out the questionnaire and signing at the bottom.
Please return the questionnaire by fax or email to:
