JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Pharmacy Technician Reports To: Pharmacist JOB PURPOSE: Perform technical pharmacy activities for NuVision Health. The primary role of the Pharmacy Technician is to support the pharmacist in pharmacy-related processes and activities. The Pharmacy Technician must be proficient in the pharmacy software utilized to process prescriptions and provide refill and follow-up information for patients. The pharmacy technician is also responsible for preparing prescriptions using an automated pharmacy system in a remote dispensing location and for shipment/delivery of medication to patients. Drug inventory must be maintained and updated. Current inventory, minimum and maximum levels must be updated daily and maintained through drug ordering. Regular aggregate reporting for different departments of the company is required. The Pharmacy Technician must be proficient, professional, and patient-focused in answering calls from patients, as well as processing prescriptions using Kroll and other applicable software applications. The Pharmacy Technician must demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues and health care professionals and using audio/video technology. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Interacts with patients using audio/video technology Manages supply chain for remote dispensing locations with occasional stocking duties Maintains and packages pharmacy and MedCenter drug inventory Processes new and refill prescriptions using pharmacy and RDL operating software Processes payment for prescriptions and OTC medication Processes and arranges distribution of prescriptions as required Follows up with patients to confirm prescription delivery Manages changes in drug formularies and drug pricing updates Contacts physicians’ offices and patients regarding prescription clarifications and refill authorizations Manages incoming faxes, email, mail, follow-ups, and notes Disposes expired medication and sensitive patient information Generates reports as requested Timely, accurate and complete documentation of activities performed Answers call center for inquiries and preparation of medication for verification by the pharmacist Performs demonstrations for patients and visitors Enters patient prescription information into pharmacy management system Documents Patient/Demo/Test dispense technology and software issues Provides information to patients, staff, and health care providers on how remote dispensing technology works Other duties to be assigned as required Page 1 JOB DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS Certified Pharmacy Technician in Ontario an asset 2+ years experience in community pharmacy Proficiency in Kroll required Demonstrate excellent proficiency in pharmacy management software Ability to work individually under minimal supervision and within a team environment. Demonstrate proficiency in both written and verbal English Multi-lingual written and verbal proficiency is an asset WORKING CONDITIONS Indoor facility Overtime and/or shift work may be required Conditions of work may evolve as required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Potentially a physically challenging job Principally call centre activities using audio and video Pharmacy work utilizing stationary computers Potential periods of standing in a clean packaging environment Page 2
