Oil Spills

Oil spills will destroy our planet if we
don’t do anything soon...
Oil spills destroy millions of things
every year including...
Water...
Animals...
And the environment.
Pretty soon, animals will die and
species will go extinct...
Is that what you want?
When oil covers an animal's fur or
feathers, it can't swim, fly, or stay
warm. If the oil is not cleaned off the
animal, it could be injured or...
DIE
Fur seal pups drown if oil sticks their
flippers or on their bodies.
There are only 7 species of sea turtles
left due to oil spills.
Brown pelicans can drown and get sick
from oil. There are only 34,000 brown
pelicans left on Earth.
Oil spreads faster than anything
combined can clean it up...
In the meantime, oil is destroying
many things...
STOP THIS!!!
However, there are ways to stop this
from spreading too much.
First, there are booms. Booms float in
the water like a fence that stops oil.
Dispersants spray out chemicals that
separate oil into droplets, which mixes
into the water which makes it not as
deadly.
Another way is power washing. Power
washing sprays out water with so
much force, that the oil eventually
dissolves.
Other methods to clean up oil spills
include skimmers, pumps, oil bags,
tanks, power packs, and silt curtains.
But what can you do to help out?
Use less oil!
To use less oil, you can ride a bike,
walk, jog, or get an electrical car...
Buy fewer things that have oil-made
plastic in them or are packaged in it...
Drive your car less...
Or donate to an oil spill organization.
