AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS: National Level
JOSEPH ADAMS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SENIORS
Deadline: December 15, 2015
Each year the SHH awards twelve $2,000 and forty-eight $1000 scholarships to graduating
senior members of SHH. Only one application per chapter will be accepted.
The applicant must be a high school senior and member of the SHH who is currently enrolled in
a Spanish or Portuguese class. If a student has already completed the highest level of Spanish or
Portuguese offered prior to the senior year, and as a result is not currently enrolled in a Spanish
or Portuguese class, he/she may still apply. A letter from a school counselor or administrator
must be included to verify that there were no Spanish classes available to the student. The
chapter sponsor must certify that he/she is a member in good standing of the American
Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese at the time of application. Only one
application per chapter is allowed. Receipt of more than one application per chapter will
disqualify all candidates from the chapter. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

BERTIE GREEN TRAVEL AWARDS FOR JUNIORS
Deadline: December 15, 2015
Each year twenty-four travel awards are awarded to high school juniors who are members of
SHH. The students travel to a country or region of the Spanish-speaking world; the departure
date for the trip is generally scheduled for mid-July. Only one application per chapter is
accepted.
2015 BOX OF JOY - CROSS CATHOLIC OUTREACH (NOVEMBER 18-21)

FECHA: NOVEMBER 21, 2015 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
REQUIRED ATTIRE: STANDARD ATTIRE: SPECIAL TEAMS SHIRT, KHAKI PANTS/SHORTS/CAPRIS, AND
CLOSED TOES SHOES.
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTSSCREENING CENTER VOLUNTEERS WILL HAVE BE SCREENING ALL THE GIFT
BOXES TO MAKE SURE THAT GIFTS ARE SAFE AND APPROPRIATE AND THEN PREPARING THEM FOR
SHIPMENT TO THE CHILDREN IN HAITI AND GUATEMALA.
WITH THE ANTICIPATION AND CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS, WE EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF OUR LORD
JESUS CHRIST. GIFT GIVING IS A WONDERFUL, MEANINGFUL PART OF THAT EXPERIENCE.
UNFORTUNATELY, SEVERE POVERTY DEPRIVES MANY CHILDREN IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES OF THIS
JOY. THEIR PARENTS ARE TOO POOR TO PROVIDE EVEN ONE SIMPLE CHRISTMAS PRESENT.
