assign or unassign templates to users
Reviewer – Access to all functions as SuperUser and
all returns created by other users; cannot submit efiles
E-file Manager – allows users to submit e-files
Who are Administrator users?
Could be TC, ERO, LC - anyone
1. ADMIN user
2. Any user given the role (Privilege)
of Administrator
ADMIN user
1. ADMIN is the name of the “original” TWO user – that is,
ADMIN is the only program user when a Client ID is
assigned.
2. ADMIN is the user to first open the new Client ID (by logging
in).
3. ADMIN initially uses the Registration Code as the password;
later it can be changed to an 8 character password.
4. ADMIN must accept the CCH License Agreement for each
tax year to open that year’s program for tax preparation.
5. ADMIN creates additional users and assigns user roles.
What do Administrators do?
1. “Build” the program using:
a. Manage Users
b. Settings
c. Return Templates
2. “Repair” the program using:
a. Delete Returns
b. Clear Sent E-files
c. Restore Deleted Returns
d. Move Returns

Responsibilities
Establish a process to insure all returns are
promptly submitted
Track status of all returns from creation to
acceptance
Receive return acknowledgments
Ensure all rejects are promptly corrected &
accepted, or converted to paper returns

Use the ERO Tracking Log to track status of
federal and state returns, questions asked,
paper returns or pending completion

Security – What You Can Do
ALL computers used for Tax-Aide must be
password protected.
Passwords must not be shared outside the program.
Written password reminders
must be kept away from the
computers.

Data Security Password
Password guidelines:
 Minimum length – eight (8) characters for Windows, and
TaxWise™ accounts.
 At least one letter and one number in the password.
 Choose a password that is not a dictionary word or someone’s
name.
 Do not use TaxWise, TW, Tax-Aide, AARP or any word in the
password similar to something that is obviously related to the
program.

What Can You Do?
Make sure all computers are running the
Windows 7 (or 8); this includes personal and site
computers.
Windows Vista not supported by CCH
If a personal or site computer cannot be
upgraded
 They must not be used for Tax-Aide purposes.
 They cannot be on the same network segment as Tax-Aide computers.
