Write down the name and NUMBER of the test you must take. You need this number when you go to the ETS site to register. Pay especially close attention to the test number. There are different versions of some content knowledge tests. To be a completer of our program, you must take the test with the number on the chart we have provided you (below). Be alert to the following information: If you will be licensed (endorsed) to teach in more than one area, in most cases you need to take more than one Praxis II content knowledge test. HPE students must take the “health” and the “PE” test. These are two separate tests. Elementary, Secondary, and K-12 completers majoring in a content area in which they expect to teach are required to take the content knowledge test for each of the content areas they intend to teach. See Jennifer Olufsen or Jeannette Pillsbury if you have a question about this requirement. Elementary completers take ONE content knowledge test for Elementary licensure. This test assesses English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Elementary completers getting an academic endorsement are NOT required to take a content knowledge test for the content area of the endorsement. See below for Middle Level Learner. To be a completer, no test is required for the Reading or for Instructional Strategist II endorsements. Elementary, Secondary, and K-12 completers who are seeking an endorsement in “Middle Level Learner” or “English as a Second Language” are required to take a Praxis II content knowledge test. Between 8/1/15 and 12/31/15, tests taken before 8/1/15will be considered according to the “before 8/1/15” expectation. You must take this test and report the results to the Luther Education Department no later than June 15 immediately following your student teaching. We recommend you take the test just before or early enough in your student teaching year to secure a passing score report by the time you interview for teaching positions. If you have questions, see Jennifer Olufsen or Jeannette Pillsbury.
