Know the following facts/events:
1. The most important aspect of the Articles of Confederation was: it was the
first national government of the United States, which was established in
1781 towards the end of the Revolutionary War
2. One weakness of the Articles of Confederation was that most power was
held by the states
3. Under the Articles of Confederation, all of the following were true: could
not draft an army, could not raise taxes, and each state was printing
its own money
4. The purpose of the Land Ordinance of 1785 was to set up a system for
surveying and dividing territory
5. The main cause of Shays’ Rebellion was the Massachusetts policy that
forced farmers to pay taxes on land that they could not afford
6. Following Shays’ Rebellion, most Americans called for establishing a
stronger central government
7. In response to the uprising known as Shays’ Rebellion, the American
