The Book Project
1. Have alphabet books available to
students. Read a few and discuss the
general format of alphabet books.
2. Present rubric and discuss what students
need to include on each letter page.
3. Give alphabet organizer handout to
students with topics listed.
4. Students work in groups to complete the
research for each letter. Use storyboard
handouts for students prewriting.
5. Students can type in word processing
program or write & draw with
pens/pencils. Assemble into books.
Planning Tips
• Have topics ready for students
• Encyclopedias/dictionaries make a good
