Chapter Objectives
(Chapter 2B)






Learn to talk about our classroom in Spanish.
Learn to ask and tell who is doing an action.
Learn to indicate where things are located.
Will be learning how to conjugate the verb Estar.
Review the rules of agreement for nouns and adjectives in a sentence in Spanish.
Compare school in South America with school in the US.
Enduring Understandings/Essential Questions:


How can I distinguish the difference between ser and estar.
How can I summarize subject/verb/adjective agreement in a sentence in
Spanish?
Learner Objectives: (TEKS)
1) Communication – The student communicates in a language other than English using
the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
(a)Engage in oral and written exchanges of learned materials to socialize and to
provide and obtain information.
(3) Connections – The student uses the language to make connections with other
subject areas and to acquire information.

by comparing student’s own language and culture to another.

I can talk about where items are located in my classroom in Spanish.
I can learn how to distinguish between ser and estar and when to use each verb correctly.
I will write simple sentences in Spanish describing my classroom.
I will write sentences using estar and ser correctly in Spanish.
I will write sentences in Spanish using correct subject/verb/adjective agreement.
Formative Assessments:


Warm ups will be used as a check for understanding.
Cloze activity, white boards and parking lot.
Learning Plan:




Students will do a listening activity with the Spanish version of the song “Frozen”
en español. We will talk about the difference in lyrics between the two languages
and why it can’t always be an exact word for word translation.
Students will learn the difference between ser and estar in Spanish.
Students will learn rules for when to use ser and rules for when to use estar.
Students will practice choosing between ser and estar correctly in a sentence.




Students will review how to use prepositons of place to describe where things are
in the classroom.
Students will also practice using al and del with prepositions of place.
Students will continue to practice asking and answering questions in the present
tense.
Students will work on question words in Spanish as well.
Differentiation:




Students will do written activities with the verb estar vs ser.
Students will do a listening activity with the song “Frozen” en español.
Students will do written activities with prepositions of place, this will include the
use of al and del.
Students will ask and answer questions about where things are located around
the room in Spanish.
