You must decide if the word in italics is being used correctly in the sentence. If it is correct, mark “No Error.” If it is incorrect, select the word that would best replace it. Please note that for this particular section, the sentences were taken from the “Choosing the Right Word” activities found in the vocabulary book. Part Two: Completing the Sentences For this section of the exam, you will be asked to read a series of sentences and choose the best vocabulary word to complete the sentence. Again, these sentences were taken from the “Choosing the Right Word” activities found in units 1-8 of the vocabulary book. Part Three: Synonyms For this section of the exam, you will be asked to choose a word that most nearly expresses the same meaning of the word in bold face type. Part Four: Antonyms For this section of the exam, you will be asked to choose a word that most nearly expresses the opposite meaning of the word in bold face type. Ways to Prepare: Look over the words in Units 1 – 8, particularly noting the words with which you are unfamiliar. Make notecards to help you become more familiar with these words. Review the “Choosing the Right Word” activities in the book. Make sure you pay attention to any sentences you got wrong when you first completed the section.
