This will include the assessment policy and resubmit rules. Slide 6 Competency Based Units • You have been enrolled in units of competency for the accounting and banking courses. • This requires your teachers to determine whether you are competent in each unit. • We have to collect evidence to support your competency in the unit. • This may be a combination of class test and assignments done at home. Attendance in every class is very important. Slide 7 Organising Commitments Diarise everything in your lives: • TAFE classes • Homework • Collection of evidence dates • Assignment due dates • Sport, recreation and entertainment dates • Family commitments • Allocate an adequate amount of time for study on a regular basis. Slide 8 Home Study • For every hour of class time, do approximately one hour of study / homework • Therefore for a 20 hour course you will also need 10-20 hours at home / library study. Plan for this. • There will be a library session later in the morning to explain the features of the library and how to use the facilities provided for students. Slide 10 Student Email You have been provided with a student email account by TAFE. ACCESS to this account is through student E-services OR DET Portal. Slide 17 TAFE card • You must carry your TAFEcard at all times when on college premises. • You will need to show it as identification to sit final exams. • If it is lost or stolen, report this immediately to the administration office. Replacements cost $20. Slide 18 TAFE Classroom Behaviour • • • • • • • Adult Educational facility (not school) You are responsible for your own learning. Expect respect from staff and fellow students. Zero tolerance to harassment. No abusive language including swearing. Slide 22 Computer Competency • At your first class your teacher will discuss with you Computer Competency Assessments. • If you have previous computer skills, Microsoft Word, Excel or MYOB please discuss with your teacher in the first couple of weeks. • DO NOT LEAVE TILL THE END OF THE SEMESTER TO DISCUSS.
