Economics is a senior level course that is required by the state of Georgia
for graduation. You will be held to the standards of both the state of Georgia and
Ridgeland High School. This course also carries a state mandated EOCT. This
test will account for 20% of your final grade. Since this exam is cumulative, it is
very important that you attend class as much as possible. Lack of attendance
can severely hinder your ability to do well.
Course Format
 Lecture
o With many Social Studies courses, lecture is a key component of
covering important material. We will have classes that feature
lecture as a means of gaining information on topics. These lectures
will be accompanied with notes.
o If you miss a lecture, you need to get copies of the notes. Either
copy the notes from another student who was present or get the
information from the class website
 Lecture Questions
o At the end of many lectures there will be an opportunity for you to
earn a grade based on the information covered that day. These will
be in the form of review questions
o Often, we will use our Promethean Student Response Systems
(Clickers) to answer these questions.
 If you are absent on the day of a lecture/lecture questions.
First make sure you copy the notes from a classmate or get
them from the website. After you have them copied, show
them to your teacher and you will be exempted from the
lecture question grade.
 If you do not copy the notes and show the teacher, your
overall grade will reflect a missing assignment for the lecture
questions.
o These review question grades will go into the Minor Grade category
 Daily Work
o You will have class work assignments on a daily basis. These
assignments may be turned in on the same day or carried over to
the following day. It is important to stay on top of daily work.
o If you are absent you need to find out what daily work you missed
o Sometimes you may receive an alternate assignment. This grade
will make up for the daily assignment you missed.


Projects
o Many times throughout the year we will be doing projects. Some
projects will be larger than others. These projects will sometimes be
completed on your own and sometimes in groups.
o Projects fall into the Major Grade category
