UPCOMING SCHEDULE Unit 7 – 2 weeks Unit 8 – 1 week Review for final – 3 days FINALS! SUMMER!! LESSON 10-6: CIRCLES & ARCS Students will find the measures of central angles and arcs. Students will find the circumference and arc length. Central angle: an angle whose vertex is the center of the circle. TYPES OF ARCS PRACTICE! MEASURES OF ARCS ARCS Adjacent arcs: arcs of the same circle that have exactly one point in common. Arc Addition Postulate: the measure of an arc formed by two smaller arcs is the sum of those two arcs. PRACTICE! CIRCUMFERENCE Circumference: distance around the circle Pi: the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter (𝜋). Approximately 3.14 ARC LENGTH Arc length: fraction of the circle’s circumference 𝑎𝑟𝑐 𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑎𝑟𝑐 𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑡ℎ = ∙ 𝐶𝑖𝑟𝑐𝑢𝑚𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 360 CIRCUMFERENCE & ARC LENGTH For each problem, find: The circumference of the circle The measurement of the red arc The length of the red arc Leave all answers in terms of pi! STEP IT UP! It is 5:00 p.m. What is the measure of the minor arc formed by the hands of an analog clock? INDEPENDENT PRACTICE & HOMEWORK!
