Salary determined by schedule set by the Board. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Principal. GENERAL DESCRIPTION ESSENTIAL DUTIES The purpose of this classification is to facilitate the in-school suspension program and supervise students who are assigned to in-school suspension for disciplinary reasons. Responsible for monitoring student behavior, reinforcing in-school suspension rules, assisting with student work assignments, and maintaining student suspension records. Also responsible for coordinating student work assignments with instructors, ensuring completion of assignments, and providing updates on student progress, behavior, and attitudes to appropriate personnel and instructors. 1) Establish rapport with students to motivate pupils in developing positive behavior, provide strategies for developing character and knowledge to ensure a safe orderly environment. 2) Assist students with work assignments, answer questions, and supervise the completion of assignments provided by the instructors. 3) Coordinate the routing of assignment sheets among teachers, students, and administration. 4) Maintain constant contact with in-school suspension students unless relieved by appropriate school personnel, and supervise students’ restrooms and lunch breaks. 5) Maintain records of attendance and report to authorized school personnel. 6) Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as required, abiding by the rights of students within the confines of Board policy. 7) Assume responsibilities determined by administrators when not assigned to inschool suspension class duty. ADDITIONAL DUTIES KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Monitor student testing; provide assistance in the bookroom; assist with student conflicts; and cover for teachers as available. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Knowledge of general office procedures and protocols; Skills and ability to work with SmartBoard, Microsoft Office, and Outlook; Ability to operate basice office equipment; Ability to maintain a professional, positive attitude with parents and staff; Good organizational and planning skills; Knowledge and ability to understand and communicate effectively with students of various ages; Ability to meet the educational requirements as mandated in the No Child Left Behind Legislation; Ability to maintain accurate records; Ability to maintain confidentiality. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USAGE Use computers for data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, or Power School. EDUCATION Completion of high school/GED. Prefer Two Year Degree. EXPERIENCE No experience required. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Must meet Highly Qualified requirements. PREFERRED: ESEA Certification.
