as part of their SS unit. We wrote about some extra cool places for them to check
out!

Thomas Alva Edison was an American inventor
and businessman. His inventions greatly
influenced
the
world,
including
the
phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a
long-lasting, electric light bulb.
Edison Memorial Tower was built in 1937 as a
memorial to commemorate the 50th
anniversary of Edison's invention of the light
bulb. The tower was built with a large replica of
the Edison's original light bulb at the very top. A
frosted bulb called the "Eternal Light" was
installed at the base of
the tower.
The firm Massena and
DuPont built the tower.
They chose the Art Deco
style for the Tower
shaft, which tapers
upward
to
the
monumental replica of
Edison's first practical
incandescent bulb. The effect is to focus
attention upward to the light at the top, as well
as enhance the sense of height and
monumentality. The total height of the Tower is
134' 10". It is topped by a high monumental
Bulb of Pyrex glass segments.
The property also hosts a small museum which
showcases many of Thomas Edison's creations
including the phonograph, development of a
complete electrical distribution system and
perfection of the incandescent light bulb. The

like. I once saw a 5 year old jumping and on
the other side a person from the range of 3040 year old playing. It was great to see both
people smiling with joy. If you enjoy
Rebounderz that much you can even go have
you birthday party there. You get to jump for
your birthday for hours. Then you have lunch
or dinner (whatever time your party is) in a
special room. After that it is cake cutting time.
“Happy birthday to you” A large crowd sings
for you. Then if you want you can even open
presents there if you like. Lastly, it is a sad
“goodbye” to all your friends and a “thank
you” too. It will be a time you’ll never forget!

can eat delicious Mexican food. It has many
wonderful appetizers and snacks that make
your insides laugh with

chalupas, the Doritos
locos tacos, salads,
nachos, and desserts. At
Taco Bell you will find
these foods extremely mouth-watering. It will
feel like a firework blew up in your mouth. If
you haven’t ever seen Taco Bell, just go to the
one in Edison on Inman Ave. or Parsonage Rd.
Menlo Park
Mall

is located in 55 Parsonage Rd, Edison, NJ 08837,
and it is a 2 story mall. You can’t miss it when
you drive by! Also, it has many different shops.
Including, Abercrombie, Areopostale, Aldo
Shoes, Apple Computer, Barnes and Noble, and
many more! It has food courts too. Asian chao,
Auntie Anne’s pretzel perfect, Charley’s grilled
subs, The Cheesecake Factory, ect… It has a kid
restaurant that is called Rainforest Café! The
outside of it looks very interesting to kids. So
what are you waiting for? Go to Menlo Park

Monster Mini

Don’t get scared looking at the dark and
scary monstrous place, it is in fact a monster
themed
mini golf
which is
the main
part of this
whole
place.
There will be a zig-zagging path and various
other types of tricky holes. Even if you are an
expert at that it will take at least couple of tries
for one to get through the holes. There are
really challenging holes, 18 of them. Moreover
it is all neon and your clothes will glow
especially if you wear white!! There is a big,
green Frankenstein waiting to scare you!!! In
addition there are many more interesting things
you have to see it yourself, so get ready and go
there to visit and have fun!!!! The arcade is the
place where you rock and roll with games. Each
game at the most gives 4-6 tickets. There is ski
ball, car games, and lots and lots of candy. I
think there is $5 in each card. When the money
in your card runs out, either get more money or
get a prize! The prizes include rings, balls, and
etc....So Enjoy and have a blast

The Lego Movie – Review by Dhruv Shidhaye
The Lego Movie is a very interesting movie full of thrills and laughter. The story is based in Lego world
and about Emmet, a construction worker who stops evil Lego figure Lord Business from gluing the Lego
universe together and creating a perfect city. He completes his tasks successfully. True to the prophecy
put by sage Vitruvius that a Master Builder would save the Lego world.
Emmet, who is living an ordinary life, once stumbles on an object called a Kragle. It is superglue and the
cap of the bottle is stuck to Emmet’s back, while the glue from the bottle is spreading all over Lego city.
Everyone thinks that Emmet is the Master Builder who will save the Lego world. The whole story goes
with thrills and fun rides to remove the stuck cap and put it back on the bottle. It has all the mixed Lego
characters from Harry Potter to Abraham Lincoln with interesting scenes. The most exciting part is that
the crew of master builders builds a submarine and escapes from the cloud land.
Finally Emmet is able to convince Lord Business and they manage to work together to close the Kragle
bottle.
The theme song "Everything Is Awesome" is really awesome. This is truly a family movie, where our
parents can enjoy just as we would. I would definitely recommend this movie as a must watch.

The SuperBowl – Review by Allen DeSagun
Have you watched The Super Bowl this year? Well if not here’s some information about it! This
year was the Seattle Seahawks vs the Denver Broncos! It was hosted at the MetLife stadium (MetLife
Stadium Dr. East Rutherford, NJ 07073). The people who played half time were Bruno Mars and Red Hot
Chili Peppers. The Seattle Seahawks won this year, it was 43-8 (43 Seahawks, 8 Broncos).
The evening started with an almost immediate score when the Seahawks got 2 points. The team
amazingly won against the Denver Broncos throughout the whole game and received a runaway win. For
the food, they sold chicken wings, potato skins and much more. Many people attended, about 82,529
came to the spectacular show. The celebrities who attended were Jennifer Garner, Hugh Jackman, and
Aaron Paul. Some of them hung out in the end zone, while Andy Samberg and Terry Crews goofed
around with Katie Couric off the field. Once the game got started, David Beckham, Paul McCartney, and
Catherine Zeta-Jones took their seats in private boxes to enjoy the game. Overall, the Super Bowl this
year was the "the COOLEST game in history", critics say.

Our World-A Futuristic Story by Srinidhi Venkatesh
Squeak! Squeak! I sighed. My shoes had picked up too much sprig. I had to visit the sprigist. Since the
time I was born, our building floor had been coated in sprig. Some rich old scientist had found out that
sprig helped keep floors clean. Ever since, this is how it’s been.
Welcome to 2194, the age of innovation.
I had arrived at the plastic roads. They were really plastic tubes that connected the buildings. They were
see-through so that we could see the wildlife. They were named after some old thing that used to be on
the ground hundreds of years ago. It really was interesting the way the ground was for nobody but the
officials could go. On my part, I think it’s unfair, but laws are laws.
I hurried along the familiar path to my house. The school bell, located in the Capital of our city, was
about to signal. I hated it so much. It was a band, on my hand that vibrated accordingly. I hated my
school most of all. It was a room that had five walls with big, ugly screens on it. Each screen had a lesson
on it.
I felt a light vibration on my wrist. I had to use an insta-chair or deal with my mom for being late for
school. Just then, I remembered that I had to insta-send my groceries to her. I found the nearest
machine and typed in our family code. It was the most important thing for us.
Swoosh. The groceries disappeared and had probably reached home by now. I did the same and landed
in my seat in the classroom. Slowly, the school day dragged on. When it was over, I jumped for joy.
Now, it was playtime! I decided that I’d play Where Am I? First, I had to get my best friend. The easiest
way was to use a destichair. I sat down and thought about my friend’s house. I opened my eyes and
stepped into his room. I put a tablet from the bottle in my pocket into my mouth. Then I yelled
“Thomas!! Where am I?” He mumbled something and then started stretching his arms and tried to get
me. Being invisible was fun when it came to pranks. I drank a glass of water and I was visible again.
I quickly destichaired myself home. I was just in time for supper. It was Italian today. My mom put the
cup with a red liquid in front of me. As I drank, I could taste ravioli and pasta. I really did like it.
For bedtime, I grabbed my auto book and lay down. As I closed my eyes, the story shared its words. As I
fell asleep, I thought about my great life.
Spring
Spring is finally here
I love when it’s near,
There will be many deer.
My spring is the best,
Because if the seasons had a contest,
It would beat the rest.
We can watch the flowers grow
There will be bunnies & chicks too,
I should let you know.

Nina and Sam were two ordinary kids. Until this magical and suspenseful adventure
took them on a twist. Nina and Sam were twins that attend Herbert Hoover middle
school and are in 6 grade. This all started when Nina and Sam were late to school.
Sam liked counting rings on a tree to determine the age of the tree. This mistake led
to a serious problem, read to find out.

St. Patrick Day Mystery

Nina and Sam didn’t know what they were headed for-a world
with magic disgust, suspense, and happiness a waited for them. It was a
Wednesday morning and Nina and Sam were getting late for school.
”Let’s take the short cut. “Nina explained to Sam. They raced to the
path that led to the woods. A couple minutes Nina realized THEY WERE
LOST. Nina tried to find their way back home. Meanwhile Sam on the
other hand was busy counting rings on a stump nearby. “92! This tree is
92 years old.” Sam yelled. “92, 92, 92, 92!” “Shush it Sam.” Nina replied
furiously. “We are LOST.” Suddenly from a far distance Nina heard a
scream. It was Sam the stump slid open and Sam fell in! Not knowing
what to do Nina jumped to save her brother.
As Nina reached down Sam was busy admiring the beautiful
scenery behind them. It was a magical place, where trees were small as
broccoli and broccoli were as the size of trees. And elephants were the
size of butterfly’s and butterflies were the size of elephants. Than
popped a wizard popped out the size of a leprechaun and 2 fairies with
the wizard “Hello newcomers. I’m the caretakers of all these fairies.
This is your fairy Sam his name is Bunzzo. Here is your fairy Nina her
name is Kathy. Said the wizard, “You see each person has a fairy that
helps them through tasks in real world you can’t see them but they are
there. Once u enters this magical world you get to see the fairies
forever. Others can’t see them only you can. And to let you know
because I keep on freaking you out now my name is Sticko The great
Fairy keeper.” “More like Sicko the Stupid,” came a voice from behind.
Suddenly Sticko was put into a cage and captured. After a moment that
lady disappeared. There was silence after the moment then Bunzzo
explained,” The wizard was the king of fairies and the witch, Pandora
was evil and once ruled the fairy world with her dark evil spells. Then
Sticko defeated her and Sticko was the new king.” Then Kathy Nina’s
fairy continued, “You two will have to beat Pandora so Sticko can be
king again. You two will have to obtain Iris a rare flower, a key to a
pyramid, and a pendent.”
To make the job easier Kathy and Nina went to find the flower Iris
and Bunzzo and Sam went to go find the pyramid. Kathy and Nina’s
flower was in rainforest deep inside. Pushing plants away from their
faces climbing steep hills to climb at last they found the flower.
Suddenly, they heard sniffles behind a bush. It was a small maiden
crying from sadness. Nina felt bad and not thinking she gave the flower
to the crying maiden. The maiden was happy and then she looked up
and smiled, “I’m Vanessa the fairy of nature and Earth. And I wanted to
see how kind hearted you are finding that flower you found with great
danger and just giving it to me. I thank you with giving you the power of
nature and water. Also this flower with something inside it” Nina was
pleased and couldn’t wait to show her brother what she got.
Meanwhile on the other hand Bunzzo and Sam found the key with
great danger filled with sandstorms and attacking camels and wanted
to find which pyramid it belonged to. Then suddenly they heard moans
and cries behind a pyramid. They checked to see where the sound was
coming from. There behind the pyramid was a poor, skinny looking
beggar with nothing to eat. Not thinking again Sam reached out his
hand and handed him the key and told him he can find the pyramid and
get the jewels and gold inside to buy him some food. The man looked
up with a big grin on his face and said, “Thank you for this key and your
kindness for this kindness I’ll give you three things. First, this key
belongs to Sphinxy. Secondly, here is a little pyramid that holds
something spectacular, and lastly I’ll grant you the power of sand and
air.” Sam excitedly thank you’d the poor and beggar and left to go
where Sam and Nina decided where to meet.
After sharing these spectacular powers the twins were excited.
And the flower and pyramid they received happened to be a half heart
that connected easily together. That made the pendant! Then a magical
fairy Lucille appeared and gave both powers to flying, come to fairy
world anytime, defending, and invisibility.
Now came the hardest part of all, beating Pandora. The fairies and
the twins knew this task won’t be easy, but they knew they had to do
this to save Sticko. “Let’s do this for Sticko” The group of 4 said
together in unison. They were determined as ever. Through hills,
desert, ponds they all struggled trying to keep on track. Bunzzo and
Kathy made a shelter for overnight with their magical power. Poof!
Blast! The house was built so fast that you could magic world 3 times as
fast you can it’ll be made before that. And the house was as large as an
insect (In their world insects are huge because it is opposite in their
world). After their night stay the journey continued. At last they
approached to the castle of Pandora they were horrified. The place had
molds and fungus all over. The castle looked evil inside and out. The
trees were showing hatred and disgust. The ground looked vicious like
it forcefully had to welcome them. A shiver ran down Nina’s back. The
four could feel how much evil was in Pandora.
The worst of all was that Pandora had a smirk of maleficent and
an unwelcome twinkle in her eye. The fight began with a twist and
suspenseful thrust the power of evil shot against power of water back
and forth, from here to there. Blasting of powers shoot like crazy!!!
Sandstorm swirl, bats to death!! Spells were released not knowing what
they were capable of doing the twins fought with all their might. In the
middle Kathy got injured and Bunzzo followed Kathy to protect her.
Now it was up to Sam and Nina. Sam distracted Pandora while Nina
went to open the small cage. Sticko cleared Pandora with one sonic
boom! Pandora was never seen again in the magical world of,
“Opposite.” Kathy recovered with one cure love from her new beloved
ones, Sam, Nina, and Bunzzo. Well, now it was time to go back home
from Nina and Sam. They promised to meet again every once a day
with a great new adventure each day to and would always keep this
world a secret and their new magical powers. In a second they were in
school and it was time for 1 period the bell rang and Nina and Sam
rushed to their classes.
Nina and Sam practiced their powers with Kathy and Bunzzo every
day and their powers got stronger. And for Sam he kept the great key of

The lovely days
Are coming our way
