We walk by faith, not by sight.
II Corinthians 5:7
FOCUSING ON THE WORD OF GOD
OBSERVING EASTER
Easter Sunday marks the day Jesus Christ was resurrected. This is a
joyous day for all and reminds us of His promise for eternal life and His
love for us all.
The real meaning of Easter is to celebrate the fact that 2,000 years ago
Christ was crucified. He then was laid to rest in a tomb but after three
days he rose from the dead). Good Friday denotes Jesus' crucifixion and
Easter Sunday denotes his resurrection. The tomb in Jerusalem remains
empty. Jesus lives, and since he died for your sins, so can you live,
eternally!.
"For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son;
that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish,
but have everlasting life."
John 3:16
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth
in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; And whosoever liveth and
believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?“ John 11:25-26
By all means, celebrate Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. Christ’s
resurrection is something that should be celebrated every day, not just
once a year. At the same time, if we choose to celebrate Easter Sunday,
we should not allow the fun and games to distract our attention from what
the day should truly be all about—the fact that Jesus was resurrected from
the dead, and that His resurrection demonstrates that we can indeed be
promised an eternal home in Heaven by receiving Jesus as our Savior.

Recipes
Southern Biscuits
Orange Baked Ham
Ingredients
1 (14 to 16-pound) fully cooked, spiral-cut smoked
ham on the bone
6 garlic cloves
8 1/2 ounces orange marmalade
1/2 cup Dijon mustard
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 orange, zested
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
Ingredients
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons shortening
1 cup chilled buttermilk
Directions
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place the ham in
a heavy roasting pan.
Mince the garlic in a food processor fitted with the
steel blade. Add the marmalade, mustard, brown
sugar, orange zest, and orange juice and process
until smooth. Pour the glaze over the ham and bake
for 1 hour, until the ham is fully heated and the
glaze is well browned. Serve hot or at room
temperature.
Hash Brown Eggs
Directions
Fry 1 cup each chopped onion and grated potato in
a cast-iron skillet with butter until crisp. Add 1/2
cup grated cheddar and crack in 2 eggs. Bake at 425
degrees F until set; top with salsa. Total Time: 15
min.Prep5 min. Cook10 min.
Yield:1-2 servings
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder,
baking soda, and salt. Using your fingertips, rub butter
and shortening into dry ingredients until mixture
looks like crumbs. (The faster the better, you don't
want the fats to melt.)
Make a well in the center and pour in the chilled
buttermilk. Stir just until the dough comes together.
The dough will be very sticky.
Turn dough onto floured surface, dust top with flour
and gently fold dough over on itself 5 or 6 times. Press
into a 1-inch thick round. Cut out biscuits with a 2inch cutter, being sure to push straight down through
the dough. Place biscuits on baking sheet so that they
just touch. Reform scrap dough, working it as little as
possible and continue cutting. (Biscuits from the
second pass will not be quite as light as those from the
first, but hey, that's life.)
Bake until biscuits are tall and light gold on top, 15 to
20 minutes. Yields 1 dozen.
