Solution to World Poverty
The article “Solution to World Poverty” was written by Pete Singer who explains the
reason why he wrote this article to his reader including why people should take their money
seriously. It gave an important message what people all over the world are doing wrong with
their money, spending instead of giving half of the money to a charity donation to other country
that has no money to buy foods. I think Singer is trying to get everyone to spend less on their
valuables item; instead to spend very little amount of money to donate to help other’s needs. I
agree with the author Pete Singer about how the people that are in poverty need the help from
other: at least to just donate their time because people that have money are spending way too
much on serious items that are not necessary.
There are a lot of children and older adults from poorer countries that have nothing to
survive on for their everyday life. They are dying every day of starvation, sickness and lack of
clean water to drink from. There are too many problems going on around the world that are
causing people to become poor while the rich spend their money on high price item that they
must have like expensive cars, television and houses. Instead they should spend their money on
certain items like foods to provide for themselves and their family. Sometimes I think giving a
donation to another country that is in need is a great way to help others but we should know who

is receiving the money to help their people to provide the supplies. It also a great way to give by
donating unwanted clothing to the shelters to delivery to other countries that are in desperate
need of clothing to wear while richer people tend to buy on unnecessary high price on clothes. It
also affects Hunger that had causes death of over about 25,000 people every day. The number of
children is greater than that of adults. The author (Karmaker) who wrote the article about “Ten
poorest countries of the world” explains about the income of the world’s richest individuals that
leaves farther behind of the poorest about 416 million populations. About 982 million out of 4.8
billion people in the developing world live on $1 a day and another 2.5 (Liu)billion live on below
$2 a day. 40 percent of the poorest population made up 5 percent of world income while 20
percent of the richest population made up 75 percent of global income in 2005. The ten poorest
countries that are in need are Republic of Congo, Liberia, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Solomon Island,
Comoros, Guinea-Bissau, Central African republic, Niger and Ethiopia.
I believe what Pete Singer is trying say to his reader is try to help the poor that are in
need by giving them food, shelter and clothing. Even though today Americans use all their
money on electronic, expensive cars and clothing instead of saving it for a main purpose and
giving half of their money to make donation to help countries to get a better life like us. Singer
explains the difference between buying night out to expensive dinner instead people should save
their money on important thing like bill and foods. There are too many problems that causing
American and other countries to become poorer from government taking money because of taxes
people have to pay which cause problem to have less money afterward. It is hard for people that
work very hard to earn money then would have to pay their taxes and mortgages which make
them have less money to spend afterward on the things they would needs to get after losing their
money on bill to pay for that government. Parent that have children that can not afford foods

with their money instead the government give them food stamp to provide their children to buy
food supplies.
In the interesting article that I have read by the (“Poverty and the cost of Hunger” that
written by (Liu) had stated there are many children every year that are dying of hunger everyday
which the death population is 16,000 young children because of lack of foods to provide to the
children. Children are also every year that more than 10 million children die of hunger and
preventable diseases which is sadly over 30,000 for each day. I also found out that their drinking
water is in poor condition to be able to drink from which many children are dying from sickness
of drinking unhealthy water. Another reason is education is effecting from poverty is they are not
getting the education they needs in life because of the lack teacher to be able to afford to teach
the children which the government don’t apply in certain countries that are communist or
dictators.
In my opinion, I believe what Pete Singer is trying to tell the reader is help those that are
in poverty by giving them your charity to help improve them to have a good life. It hard for those
that are in poverty to suffer a hard life without food, clean drinking water and better life for their
children to have. Some people care to help that are in need while others tend to spend their
money on unnecessary expensive items that they must have. I believe everyone should help by
donating some money to poorer countries to help benefit their need to survive. It
