(1st)RC2.7 focuses on retelling central ideas using simple expository or narrative

(Sequence)
(1st)RL 3.1 will require students sequence beginning, middle, and end, as well as
describe the elements of the plot (problem/solution).
K - RC 2.5 (asking and answering questions about elements of text) is not an
essential standard; however, it is a foundational comprehension skill.
Ask questions focusing on who, what and where. (1st) Students will have an
opportunity to answer who and where question later in this instructional period.

K – RC 2.3 (connect to life experiences the information and events in text) is not
an essential standard, but is a foundational skill to understanding text.
1st – RC 2.6 (relate prior knowledge to textual information) is an essential
standard and directly aligns to the K standard RC 2.3 (however, it is not tested on
GLAS), so it can be addressed simultaneously. When drawing a conclusion
students will relate prior knowledge to information within the text.
