Students know the role of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus in the secretion of proteins. (2) Students know how mutations in the DNA sequence of a gene may or may not affect the expression of the gene or sequence of amino acids in the encoded protein. (3) Students know cells divide to increase their numbers through a process of mitosis, which results in two daughter cells with identical sets of chromosomes.
