OBJECTIVE
To understand the process of osmosis.
AIM –
To observe the process of plasmolysis with
the help of plant material
PERMEABILITY.
Plant cells are covered by plasma membrane.
Permeability is the property of membrane to allow substances to
pass through it.
Based on their permeability membranes can be classified as
Permeable—If it allows the molecules of solute and solvent to
pass through freely. e.g.—cell wall
Semi permeable—If it allows the movement of some substances
only. (Molecules of solvent). e.g.—cell membrane
Impermeable – If it does not allow any molecules to pass
through. e.g.-Cuticle
FACTORS AFFECTING PERMEABILITY.
Permeability is affected by a number of factors.
1.Temperature.
2. Chemical substances.(Toxic)

To investigate the effect of
temperature on membrane
permeability of beet root.
Beet roots are storage tissues
The pink color is due to a
pigment Anthocyanin.
