The Great Gatsby Final Project Honors American Lit/Comp Due: Friday, Nov. 20, 2015 Directions: You will be submitting a project for the end of our unit on The Great Gatsby. However, which project that is is entirely up to you! You must choose ONE of the projects on this list, or you may propose another assignment to me and we can discuss it. ALL projects are due on November 20. Option 1: Character Twitter Profile Choose one character from the novel and create their twitter profile on a piece of standard size poster board. To receive full credit, this twitter profile must include all necessary parts of a real twitter profile: profile picture, cover photo, bio/location, follower/following count, and a minimum of 10 tweets (that fit twitter protocol: 140 characters or less!). The profile and tweets can be about events in the novel or about life in general, but remember, they must reflect the character in the way that the character would express him/herself. NOTE: You may not simply “tweet” direct quotes from the novel. Get creative! Option 2: Chapter Meme Summaries Using a free online meme generator, create 1 meme for each chapter of the novel that summarizes or explains a key detail of that chapter. If you choose this project, you must embed (copy+paste) the memes into a Word document, label them by chapter, and write a brief summary explaining the meme/situation (who the character being represented is, what situation it is referring to, etc.). You will submit this Word document on the homework drive. Option 3: Polyvore Closet Using Polyvore, a free website that allows you to create picture boards of outfits and accessories, create a “closet” for the characters of the novel. You may either create one closet for one character OR create multiple outfits for multiple characters, but you must have a minimum of 10 outfits total. You will take screenshots of these outfits and embed them into a Word document (be sure that you label each character). You will also write a brief summary explaining how each outfit “fits” that character with regards to time period, income/social status (new money vs. old money vs. no money), and personality. This Word document will be submitted on the homework drive. Option 4: Character’s Spotify Playlist In a Word document, create a playlist that your chosen character would jam to in his/her free time. You will need to include the song title, artist, and a copy of the lyrics, as well as a brief description of why each song is relevant to that character’s experiences, mood after certain events in the novel, or overall outlook on life. You will submit this on the homework drive. Option 5: Character Bio Poems You will choose two characters and create a biography poem for them following the guidelines on the back of this paper. You are writing these poems from that character’s point of view, meaning you are describing them as they would describe themselves. These poems will be typed and submitted on the homework drive.
