Statement of intent
At Sprowston Pavillion Playgroup we are committed to providing equality and antidiscriminatory practice for all the children and families.
Aim
We aim to
 Provide a secure environment in which all our children can flourish and in
which all contributions are valued:

equality and diversity:

7.1
Everyone is accepted into and has equal opportunities within the playgroup
(adults And children) regardless of race, gender, sexuality, disability and
culture. All medical, cultural and dietary needs will be catered for at the
playgroup. Discrimination whether covert or overt will be positively countered
whenever it occurs.
7.2
Play and equipment is available for all ages and stages. Rotation of
equipment gives all the children the opportunity to experience play with
equipment ‘normally associated with the opposite gender’.
7.3
We encourage outside visitors to come into Playgroup, i.e. the fire service, the
ambulance service, health service, guide dogs for the blind, teachers, etc., to
broaden the children’s awareness of the outside world.

For those who do not have English as a first language, translations and
translators can be provided. We also encourage children to use their home
language to support their speech and language development whilst helping
their English as well.
7.8
Equal Opportunities are given to parents, e.g. committee meetings and
venues are arranged to suit the needs of members.
7.9
Rota duties – see section “8.4 -11 and parent involvement policy” for
policy regarding parent rota duties.
7.10 All children have a learning story folder which parents have access to and can
contribute to at any time.
7.11 Parents/Carers can contribute information about their child via their ‘parent
input to records’ form which are sent out at intervals throughout the year.
They can also add information via the children’s self evaluation forms, we also
invite parents to two Development Review Days a year where they can
comment on their child's progress.
7.12 All children will be encouraged to use both indoor and outdoor facilities
throughout the year as supported and encouraged by Ofsted.
7.13 Children who are "looked after" by Norfolk Children's services are welcomed
into the setting. We work together with all concerned to enable their
personal education plan is followed and updated.
