Quint 1 Pre-Calculus Skills linked to Common Core Standards
Students will be able to:
Unit 1: Algebra Review – Simplifying Expressions
MP-2 – Reason abstractly and quantitatively
A-APR 1 – Understand that polynomials form a system analogous to the integers and are
closed under the operations of addition, subtraction and multiplication; add, subtract and
multiply polynomials
A-SSE 2 – Use the structure of an expression to identify ways to rewrite it
A-SSE3– Choose and produce an equivalent form of an expression to reveal and explain
properties of the quantity represented by the expression
N-RN 2 – Rewrite expression involving radicals and rational exponents using the
properties of exponents
A-SSE 2 – Use the structure of an expression to identify ways to rewrite it
Students will be able to:
Rewrite polynomial expressions in simplest form
Simplify radical expressions
Use rational exponents to rewrite and simplify expressions with radicals
Factor polynomial expressions
Student Responsibilities:
1. Students will come to class prepared and ready to learn. Students will have a pencil, a
three ring binder and a textbook every day. Students should have a graphing
calculator daily.
2. Students will actively participate in their own learning. They will ask questions,
maintain an organized three ring binder notebook, and complete homework every
night. Students will be responsible to actively engage themselves in the monitoring
of progress in order to meet proficiency in all Core skills, specifically “Power
Standards”.
Parent/Guardian Responsibilities:
1. A student’s progress will be updated on PowerSchool regularly. It will be the
parent/guardian and student’s responsibility to monitor this progress.
2. If a parent or guardian has a question or concern with a grade, it is their responsibility
to contact Mr. Wojnarowicz.
