COURSE DESCRIPTION: Development of management skills for the professional nurse role by applying the principles of leadership theories and styles, management, and regulatory agencies that define boundaries of nursing practice in health care organizations. Collaboration, conflict management, and effective communication skills through the use of group process, and teaching/learning strategies that emphasize the leadership and management roles of the nurse. Also, the role of the professional nurse in efficient patient care management in complex healthcare settings. Permission is required. PAPERS: Papers are due in the "Dropbox" on the date and time specified. Students need to retain the email receipt indicating successful submission of assignments to dropbox. Any paper received after the designated date and time will be considered late and may have five points deducted for every day it is late. All late papers should be placed in the "Late" folder in the "Dropbox." Exception to the date and time will be made only under extraordinary circumstances in the opinion of the instructor, and must be negotiated before the due date of the paper. Papers and references are to follow APA 6th edition guidelines. You may obtain assistance on this format from the UWF Writing Lab. This instructor will not be teaching APA format. Also, you will not be given in depth feedback on APA errors. The student is responsible for the APA format. All papers are to be in WORD or .rtf format. If the instructor is unable to open a document because it is submitted in the wrong format, it will be treated as a late submission with points deducted until it is resubmitted in a format that can be opened.
