JK Lakshmipat University (Recognized by Government of Rajasthan and covered u/s 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956) A REPORT ON INAUGURATION OF SOLAR ENERGY SOCIETY OF INDIA JAIPUR CHAPTER Solar Energy Society of India (SESI)achieved another mile stone by inaugurating Jaipur Chapter at JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU) Jaipur on 27 March 2015.This is an unique feet for JK Lakshmipat University to be the first University in the state of Rajasthan to start solar energy related activities in the state having highest solar energy potential in India. SESIJaipur Chapter was inaugurated by President-SESI Shri Ajay Prakash Shrivastava, President Maharshi Solar Technology New Delhi and Shri Jagat S Jawa, Director General in the presence of Director-IET JKLU Prof Dr-Ing Anupam Kumar Singh. Prof Singh expressed his gratitude to President and Director General SESI for believing in the Nobel idea of opening solar energy activities in the state of Rajasthan through initiating SESI-Jaipur Chapter at JKLU. Prof Singh spoke about the enormous solar potential available in the state of Rajasthan, and urged faculty and students to develop projects to tap the solar energy potential. As per NIC as on 28 March 2015, almost 9.6% villages in Rajasthan remain without electricity line andelectricity reliability still low. Several households in rural areas in absence of reliable power supply are still living a miserable life. Several faculty members of the Institute of Engineering and technology, and students from Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electronics& Communication Engineering attended the inauguration function. The inauguration session started with chanting of SaraswatiVandana and lighting the lamp by the dignitaries followed by a floral welcome of the guests on the occasion.President SESI Shri Shrivastava expressed his pleasure to be present on the very important occasion and further assured all possible help to JKLU to carry out research, workshop and training program to popularize the uses of solar energy for Rajasthan state. In his inaugural address President SESI talked about immense research scope in the field of solar energy. He stressed that this clean energy source can be used to solve our daily life problems be it charging mobile, solar lamp and solar cooker. He also asked the students present on the occasion to carry out research work in the field of solar energy, and promised to extend mentor support. During his presentation he emphasized on the issue of global warming and the changing pattern of climate due to the excess use of fossil fuel, he concluded his speech with thanking the JK LakshmipatUniversity for initiating futuristic issues in solar energy field. JK Lakshmipat University (Recognized by Government of Rajasthan and covered u/s 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956) Secretary General- SESI shared his decade long experience working with SESI and excitement he still has for the cause of solar energy technology promotion in various parts of India. In his speech Shri Jawahighlighted the challenges theyinitially faced in propagating awareness on beneficial use of solar energy. He shared that how he persuaded various stakeholders such as bankers, entrepreneurs to invest in solar energy and policy makers to facilitate stakeholders in promoting solar technology applications. He concluded his speech by congratulating the University for opening the SESI Jaipur chapter for promotion of solar energy in the Rajasthan state. This was followed by an exhaustive question & answer session with faculty and students which were answered by President and Director General SESI. Finally, the session was concluded with the presentation of memento as remembrance to both the dignitaries by Director-IET and followed by vote of thanks by Prof. Narayan Sahoo, Coordinator of the SESI-Jaipur Chapter. In the afternoon session the guests of the occasion visited the university laboratories with Director-IET and faculty colleagues. After the labvisit MrShrivastava President SESI witnessed a poster presentation competition and display of renewable energy equipment by engineering students of JKLU.The program was coordinated by MrNarayan Sahoo Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Sandeep TomarDepartment of Sciences, and Prof. SachinGangwar Department of Mechanical Engineering.
