Absences If you have an excused absence, you have as many days to make up missed work as days you missed class. Terms Democracy = rule by the people Monarchy = rule by king or queen Dictatorship = rule by a single powerful person or group Republic = a representative democracy Constitution = a written set of laws Branches of Government The executive branch includes the President, who carries out the laws The judicial branch includes the courts, which interpret the laws. The legislative branch includes the Congress, which makes the laws. The First Democracies Greece had the first democratic government. Rome had the first republic or representative democracy.
